ANC disapprove Zuma shower gel

Please be patient while the player loads...

The African National Congress has expressed its disapproval of the Zuma shower gel advert that has been placed on a video website by a satire company, Laugh It Off.  Dieketseng Maleke from the Times online spoke to ANC spokesman Brian Sokutu.

ANC has less sense of humour than old Leonid Brezshnev!

Rhee

The ANC should just stop paying attention to these racist idiots who want attention. We have not heard any botox related jokes that The Madam of Western Cape uses and we know the reason. So please don’t insult our intelligence and talk about sense of humour here!

8 May 2009

mameim

The most racist comment around is ‘The Madam of the Western Cape’. Get real – she has been the subject of ridicule about the botox over and over and she has laughed it off. She is a leader worthy of respect.
Oh I know – Rhee and the ANC actually wanted their 5 minutes of glory, and Laugh It Off should have called the stuff ANC Rhee-shower gel.
Best ad the company could have got is the ANC’s opposition to their product! Brilliant marketing. Look at what Julius’s opposition did for Nando’s product, and they made R100 000 just out of the puppet.

Mameim

So many words and you are saying so little. I will not waste my time and reply to the bile you are spewing. Most of you guys just need a lot of growing up, apartheid has really damaged your minds!!!

Buciee

I have to agree with you RHEE, Zuma is our President and he deserves to be respected, there is no humour in this.
People are just disrespectful,Mameim is as racist as Zille.
Cape Town has a lot of racists, why she won the Western Cape is not a suprize.

i think there are people out there to discredit and create a mayhem when it comes to anything that the new dispensation is trying to do, and all smacks of racism. i wish that we concentrate on building the nation instead of responding to silly and undermining pranks that seek to discredit and abuse the democracy that the racist thought will never be achieved. all i can say is that let us focus on building the society that will overcome the sentiments of these racists who never even bother to acknowledge and repent for the sins of the apartheid legacy that they entrenched and supported.

Lol. Man some growing up, wow that is well I have no words for that. I still stand and ask why is it when something of this nature happens we are quick to pull out the race card? So if a black person had done this, which we all know it could have been- but the white folks are taking credit for it, would we still be pulling the race card or calling them traitors? Come South Africans, wake up what you are doing is reverse racism. In all aspects.

8 May 2009

Rhee

Nauticaris I think you need help. Which jungle are you from not to know that a president elected by the majority of the people becomes that country’s president. Except of course if you are in OZ and the sheep noise is messing with your mind!!!

idiots....

Whoever finds this funny needs to get off the web and start socialising more..

8 May 2009

This is a imperialist, colonialist, counter revolutionary, third force, subversive conspiracy to implicate the Zuma name! Leave us alone!

8 May 2009

Sipho

What is really funny is the responses these adverts get. The publicity is amazing for the companies concerned. What is sad is the deep divisions in our society, as indicated by the usual suspects shouting about racism. Its a pity we had to have such a controversial president. Where are our Obamas?

8 May 2009

Nauticaris I think you need help.

Really, because I didn’t get a food parcel and a free ANC T-shirt?

Discredit? Satire is part of freedom and democracy. It is not counter-revolutionary or to be taken seriously. The fact that you take this so seriously shows defensiveness. Why so defensive? As for it smacking of racism… why not show how this satire is racist instead of just saying that it is… is it racist, only because Zuma is black? If your first conclusion is that any criticism of Zuma is racist, then we have a long way to go yet… sometimes criticism is indeed valid. When someone says that showering can help to prevent AIDs, that is defnitlely worth criticising… how is that racist?
i wish that we concentrate on building the nation instead of responding to silly and undermining pranks that seek to discredit and abuse the democracy that the racist thought will never be achieved.
I agree, lets concentrate on building the nation, and perhaps ignore the satire (its your choice). But to make a big thing out of it, makes people look insecure and intolerant. Satire does not undermine democracy, it is a great display of how tolerant we can be and how secure we can be that we can say things that some might not like.
Think a bit more about whether using the term ‘racists’ to refer to anyone who doesn’t believe in what you do, makes real sense. Resorting to calling people racists is anti-intellectual, in that it prevents you from listening to what they are saying. I just think maybe we need to listen to each other before we start with the name calling.

8 May 2009

joe
reverse racism.
Enough with the ‘reverse racism’ already! The word ‘racism’ means simply to discriminate based on skin colour. The term ‘reverse racism’ implies that there are only two ‘directions’ racism can work in… its been cleverly engineered that way… to make you think that only whites can be racist and that we need another, special word for blacks when they are being discriminatory based on colour. Blacks can be as racist as the most racist white… of that there is plenty of evidence… What most people will proceed to argue is that blacks have a reason to discriminate (ie Affirmative Action)… whether the reason to discriminate is acceptable is another argument. According to our constitution no discrimination is allowed on basis of colour.

“ANC dissaprove of Zuma showr gell”
“ANC Youth league threatens Nando’s with ‘militant action’ over change satire advert”

This is only but the start of many ways in which our freedom will be curtailed under “President Zuma”.
Already one Julius Malema has successfully dictated what I may view on TV. Now Luthuli house dictates which brands of shower gell are unacceptable.
The SABC has already cancelled some current affairs episodes for “inappropriate content”.

This is the start of the rot.

Very soon pres freedom will take a nosedive as the “Zumafication of South Africa” continues. These are merely the latest incidents in a very long list of negative actions and issues justly attributed to Jacob Zuma.

I am sorry, Zuma is not and will never be my president. Full Stop!

SPEAK ME MIND

I think most bloggers here need a “what is racism” course. anyway, if you listen to the audio, the anc is too concerned about nothing, we should be allowed to our own opinions even if Pres Zuma feels discreditted and to begin with he himself started this but not responding intelligently in court! what did he think? we would let stupid remarks go not laughed at?!! we will laugh for generations to come! in this way we going, soon enough we will loose even the freedom of speach and media. And i know som blind loyalist have made their minds about me being “racist” here is a surprice for you I am a firm african from Mamelodi, now you can tell me how brain washed i am….lol SPEAKING MY MIND!

Well the upside of it, if used in the shower could prevent Aids, even Bra Jacob can testify to this, after all he is President.

Non racist comment:

This whole story of Helen Zillle’s so called “ugly face “is so funny because since when is Jacob Zuma an oil painting?

Just asking……

I think the question you need to pose in such ’satirical’ inventions is: ‘ What was the attitude of the artist or creator?’. If you then look at the political landscape in South Africa, I think some alarms should be going off in the racism direction.

It is an open secret that white South Africans often times view blacks as incompetent and not good for anything but AA/EE appointments. I view this so called satire from these white artists with disgust and frankly some people don’t know where to draw the line (Zapiro et al).

Racial politics in RSA will be with us for some time, it is difficult to imagine but if you have been called a ‘******’ and you were born in the 80’s it does not convince you that change in attitude among the whites is forthcoming. Obviously this is my experience you have yours.

Its difficult to make progress even at work because your white ‘colleagues’ are always trying to keep you out of the loop – to me this creates unneecessary racial tension which translates to mistrust and ultimately needless hatred….this with a person you share an open plan office with.

Who are you to tell us what to do? Don’t forget, people died so that we could all have freedom of speech. If someone wants to criticise Zuma, he is free to. Thats what is called freedom. You, telling us to shut up, that is called fascism. Don’t pretend to want freedom of speech and democracy and then tell people to shut up when they say something you don’t like. Soon this country will be Zimbabwe and you will also wish to be in Australia if you carry on like this…

To tell the truth I’m not suprised that white people support this they are still bitter and angry that the black man will lead them until Jesus comes back. Just do yourselves a favour and accept that a white man will never rule SA. The sooner you make peace with it the better. Zuma is our president like it or not shower gel or no shower gel.
