People of Durban
Having returned to South Africa, his birth country, after a lengthy period of time living and studying abroad, freelance photographer, Daniel Cuthbert was amazed to see how middle class South Africa has ignored a whole sub-culture of people who live, work and play on the streets of their biggest metropoles.
So, after settling in Durban, Cuthbert, armed with a camera and loads of curiosity, resolved to capture briefly the lives of people we often pass by but rarely think twice about. The People of Durban.

Excellent portraits here, and an informative interview as well. I hope to see more of your projects in the future, you are definitely a photographer to watch out for.

Really enjoyed this series of images and your talk on how you approached the subject. Found you on Lightstalkers, which I’ve just joined.
Intrigued by your choice of time of day to photograph this series with flat overhead light.
All the best,
Paul
